The Department of Biomedical Engineering successfully organized a hands-on workshop titled “”AI-Driven Materials Modeling, Simulation, and Additive Manufacturing” on 24 December 2025 at the Seminar Hall. The workshop aimed to introduce students to modern computational tools and artificial intelligence techniques being used in the field of biomaterials and advanced manufacturing.
During the session, the instructor provided a comprehensive introduction to biomaterials, highlighting their importance and applications in medical devices, implants, and tissue engineering. Emphasis was placed on how emerging AI-based approaches are transforming material selection, performance prediction, and design optimization in biomedical engineering.
The second part of the workshop focused on a practical introduction to Materials Studio software, a widely used platform for materials modeling and simulation. Students were guided through the basic interface, modeling environment, and essential simulation tools. Demonstrations included the creation of material structures, visualization techniques, and an overview of how computational simulations can predict mechanical, chemical, and biological behavior of materials.
Students actively participated in the session, asked questions, and explored the software under the instructor’s guidance. The workshop provided valuable exposure to industry-relevant tools and emerging technologies, helping students understand the integration of AI, computational modeling, and additive manufacturing in modern biomedical engineering practice.
The department remains committed to organizing such workshops to equip students with cutting-edge technical skills and prepare them for future challenges in research, industry, and innovation.
